Born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans. Died July 6, 1971, just 56 years old. Hard to imagine a more influential jazz trumpeter. And his influence extends far beyond his trumpet playing.

It might be cliche but ‘What a Wonderful World’ was the song my wife and I did our first dance to at our wedding . When we met my wife had zero interest in music and he was one of the first I introduced her to which won her over into the broader scope of good music.
